How this is calculated

Standard UK fence panels are about 1.83 m (6 ft) wide. Each panel sits between two posts, so a straight run needs one more post than panels. The calculator divides the run length, less one post width, by the width of one panel plus one post, and rounds up to whole panels. Gravel boards match the panel count, one per panel, sitting at the bottom of each bay.

It also shows the total length covered by that many panels and posts, so you can see how far the run reaches and how much it overshoots. The last panel often needs cutting to fit the exact length, which is normal on most runs.

This page covers a single straight run only. Corners and gates need extra posts, so add them separately when you order. Concrete or post mix is needed for every post, but quantities vary with hole size, so this page does not estimate it; check the post mix bag for its coverage per hole.
